Interview for Newsweek for an article on "The Catholic Church"

Recording made by Porter and/or Robert Beach of an interview conducted by a Newsweek correspondent for an article on "The Catholic Church," August 28, 1971, College Park, MD. The interview begins around 00:02:09. Technical difficulties at the start and low levels throughout. Porter and Beach apparently were checking the tape recorder before the interviewer arrived, as Porter recites part of a Shakespeare sonnet. The interview is conducted by a woman. Porter's comments on the Catholic Church include why she was drawn to it, her preference for the Latin mass, the situation in Ireland, nuns and their habits, her religious beliefs and practice, the Berrigan brothers, and an experience she had while writing her Cotton Mather biography in Bermuda.
